About this Trek

[{"insert":"Most people only cross Randall's Island for a game, a festival or a stadium event, and leave without ever seeing the water's edge.\n\nStart on the Manhattan side at 103rd Street and walk over the footbridge. The city drops away behind you. From there the route follows the shoreline with Manhattan directly across the water, through the Water's Edge Garden, out to a restored tidal salt marsh, and past the Urban Farm and the wildflower meadow before returning over the bridge.\n\nNine miles of flat, paved, car-free pathway, more than 200 bird species, and a salt marsh in the middle of the East River. There are corners of this island where you genuinely forget which city you are in. That is what this walk is built around.\n\nForty minutes, one crossing, and a green island most New Yorkers have never walked.\n\nBest in the early morning or the hour before sunset. Check the park calendar and avoid big event days at Icahn Stadium.\n"}]
